Cookie Policy
shiftportal.online sets no cookies. Not one, of any kind, first-party or third-party. This page explains what that means and what the site does instead.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file that a website asks a browser to store and then send back on later requests, which lets the site recognise a returning browser. Cookies are used for useful things such as keeping a reader signed in, and for things readers are usually less enthusiastic about, such as building a profile of browsing behaviour across different websites.
This site sets none
No page on shiftportal.online sets a cookie, and no third party is permitted to set one through this site. There is no analytics package, no advertising tag, no conversion or measurement pixel, no A/B testing tool, no social media embed, no comment system, no chat widget and no session identifier. The site has no accounts and no forms, so there is nothing a session would be needed for.
Because there is nothing to consent to, there is no consent banner on this site. A banner asking permission to set cookies on a site that sets none would be a false statement, and readers should treat its absence here as deliberate.
No other browser storage, and no fingerprinting
The single JavaScript file on this site opens and closes the navigation menu on small screens and the grouped menu in the top bar. It reads nothing about the device, records nothing and stores nothing. The site does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, and it makes no attempt to identify a browser by its characteristics — no canvas, font, audio or device fingerprinting of any kind. Readers who wish to verify this can open the browser's developer tools and inspect the storage panel on any page here, or read the script itself, which is short and unminified.
What happens instead
The hosting provider that serves these pages records ordinary server log entries: the IP address making the request, the browser's user agent string, the URL requested, the response code and the timestamp. That is the normal operation of a web server rather than a tracking technology, it is not tied to any identifier stored in the browser, and the entries are deleted after 30 days. The privacy policy describes this in full, including the cross-border disclosure that follows from the servers being located outside Australia.
No external host is contacted by any page on this site. The stylesheet, the script and the site icon are all served from shiftportal.online itself, and no web font, image, library or media file is loaded from anywhere else. A reader's browser makes requests to this domain and to no other while reading these pages.
Links to other websites
Links from this site to other websites, including the affiliate link described on the affiliate disclosure page, are plain links. Following one leaves this site, and the destination will have its own cookies and its own policy, neither of which this publisher controls or can describe. Nothing about a reader is passed to a destination by this site; the link is simply an address written into the page.
Controlling cookies in a browser anyway
Every major browser lets a reader see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block them selectively or entirely. The controls sit in the privacy or site-settings section of the browser's preferences, under names such as Cookies and site data or Privacy and security. Blocking cookies entirely will break many websites that rely on them for sign-in; it will have no effect at all on this one.
If this ever changes
No change is planned. If a cookie is ever introduced here — for any purpose, including measurement — this page will be rewritten to describe it, with its name, its purpose and its lifetime, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before the first cookie is set rather than afterwards. The effective date above will change on the same day.
